Fun fact: I titled this post then switched over to another tab and when I returned out of the corner of my eye, I thought I wrote, “I’m a Mazda Protege!” Friends, I am not a car. It’s sad that I misread it when I wrote it.
Let’s move right along because I do want to mention that I will be participating in YALSA’s virtual mentoring program for the next year! Hurray! I applied, got accepted, and then got paired up with a lovely YA librarian from Kentucky (one of the states in which I’ve lived which means I already love her!). She will be helping me out with professional development stuff and hopefully working on a project over the upcoming year. In my application, I think I mentioned wanting to work on community outreach, advocacy, and partnerships. So you know, small stuff. I’m really looking forward to it and hope that she can help me. Maybe I can even help her with something, who knows! I mean, it will probably be some random bit of nerd-trivia, but I’ll take it.
Today I’m also going to be at my library community’s 9th grade campus for an open house. Hopefully, I will see more people than last year when I was stuck in the gym. Even if I am, I am bringing homemade library scratch tickets with prizes, candy, and a big tri-fold display thing. Everyone else had tri-fold display thingys last year and I got jealous! I made my own and I will post some pictures this weekend. Hopefully, there will be so many teens excited about library services crowded around my table that you won’t even be able to see anything. A girl can dream, right?
P.S. This is my 101st post here at lcarslibrarian.com. What a thrill. 🙂
Congratulations, Anna!
Thank you!!
