New happenings

As I warned you all, my amazing Mom was here last weekend and it was awesome! But, it meant that I missed blogging on Sunday. And Thursday, even though Mom left on Monday….

So I don’t really have an excuse for Thursday (I watched a lot of Arrested Development?) but I’m back. I have some exciting news, too! On Wednesday, I’ll have my first blog up at YALSA’s The Hub! It’s YALSA’s literature blog and I think I will have a monthly space after this month. That means you guys can read my thoughts here and other there. Exciting!

In other news, I’m applying to get a mentor also through YALSA, finishing up my training for a half marathon, and working an application for a leadership program through some local library associations. (I need to find some instances of leadership at work, though….any ideas?)

In book news, I highly recommend Hilary Mantel’s Bring up the Bodies, the sequel to Wolf Hall. Spoiler alert: Anne Boleyn and her little neck get executed. Also, Jane Seymour is plain. She’s basically a really boring, noble, and not at all badass version of Jane Eyre. The books are fascinating and I definitely can’t wait until the third book comes out.

I also read Just a Geek by Wil Wheaton.

Sorry for being mean!
Sorry for being mean!

Yes, that Wil Wheaton. It was charming and heartfelt, and it made me feel bad about making fun of Wesley Crusher all the time. He seems like a cool guy and I have certainly enjoy seeing him on the Big Bang Theory, the Guild, and reading his blog. (He also hosts a show about table top gaming on Geek & Sundry, which is a great website if you’re looking for geeky things!)

More book reviews coming! See you Thursday.
