So I’ve decided to attempt NaNoWriMo. NaNoWriMo, if you are not a crazy person and don’t know this, stands for ‘National Novel Writing Month.’ In the month of November thousands of insane people try to write a 50,000 word novel. That’s 1,666 words a day! Considering that I struggle writing a blog post every week, that I work full time, and still plan on running 15-20 miles a week, I expect this to be difficult. Perhaps, as I mentioned, maybe even insane.
But someday I do want to write a real novel, not just a terrible NaNoWriMo novel. I think someday I might even be able to do it. As you all know, I think teens deserve to have great reading material and I think that I just might have it in me to produce that. So I’ll practice with this NaNoWriMo and maybe eventually my book will matter.
The book is tentatively titled Plain Jane and the Zombie Apocalypse and is about two friends, Jane and Mia, on their own at the beginning of the zombie apocalypse. I freely admit that it will be terrible and ridiculous. Expect updates on my progress but few excerpts – would you want to read a novel someone wrote in a month without any editing? I hope not. This is one my chance to write a terrible, crappy teen zombie novel. Let’s do it!
